Danger is His Middle Name

Garrett is going through this climbing stage where I can't keep him off or out of anything. He's fearless. I'm afraid he's going to break a bone or really hurt himself. I'm constantly finding him in situations like this...
Apparently TV is better when you can watch it on top of the kitchen table. I can't tell you how many times he's fallen between those chairs. He'll cry and then do it all over again.
This is one of the worsts.
It takes him .2 seconds to get from the couch to the top of this bar.
Then there's this little trick. I'm just trying to figure out where he comes up with this stuff. It all happened over night. Like he was plotting and scheming for the perfect opportunity to try it out.
Last but not least, there's the bathroom climbing trick. This one drives me INSANE! He starts by tossing everything in the bottom drawer out onto the floor. I don't know why but he does it every time.
He pulls the top drawer out and starts to climb.
Basically, I can't use any of my bathroom drawers. I've been putting all my "important" stuff in the top drawer but, as you can see, he can reach that now.
I want all you mommies out there who have little ones who are not walking yet to breathe a big sigh of relief. Then I want you to brace yourself because once they do start walking, this is what you have to look forward to!
P.S. All these photos were taken in the same day. Notice how he starts off fully dressed and is down to just a diaper in the last photo. That's another trick he's learned...how to undress himself. Oh yeah, you guessed it...I LOVE it when he does that!

Just Really Missing Him

I've known Justin's busy time of year was coming. We've been bracing ourselves for all the time away from home and traveling he'd be doing. I've been preparing myself to suck it up and take on all the responsibilities at home like a big girl.
Well, it's the third week in January and I'm over this already! It's not just the extra help with Garrett and chores around the house that I miss. I just really miss my husband and my friend!
I'd love to throw a fit, cry, and stomp my feet for this to end and Justin just come home to me. The problem is, I already did that...that's why Justin has this job and we're back home in NC.
So, suck it up I must. This is just a chapter of our life. One of the not so interesting chapters. The kind you want to just skim through and flip on over to where the story gets real good.
Like this:
Angie awoke, feeling completely refreshed with no signs of morning sickness. She found Garrett in the living room, picking up his toys and folding a pile of laundry that was left on the couch. Then, there was a knock at the door. It was Justin. He was home early! Angie opened the door to see her lover standing there with his gorgeous grin, a box of Whitman Sampler chocolates in one hand and a winning lottery ticket in the other...
Counting down the seconds till you return. Love you Justin!

Hayden Keeping it Real

Since Jamie's been too busy keeping my kid for me this week to catch up on her own blog, I thought I'd post this cute video clip of Hayden. She's getting so growny, sitting up like a big girl, laughing and giggling so much. In no time she'll be up walking around, pulling the oven door open, and throwing dish towels on the floor like Garrett does when he's over at their house.

In this video, she's right where she wants to be...in her mama's lap. She's a mama's girl for sure! They're BFFs and that's basically the point Hayden's trying to make in this clip.
